Horses for courses

Nimbus, the brown one, and Toffee and Beauty, the Shetlands

Until recently I have been helping my loved one (and she is the only one I've loved in over thirty years) to look after these three. However, after their move to winter pasture, I've been relieved of that responsibility, along with several others. So, it has become an entirely voluntary, daily, ritual to walk the couple of miles to the ponies, give them a pat and some treats, check everything is okay, and then walk home again. (I discovered that their water trough didn't have mains pressure so a rigged up a barrel that I fill from a hosepipe).

I get a lot of pleasure from the ponies, seeing them react to a bit of attention and affection (and treats). I miss seeing them in the paddock next to the house, along with all the other things I miss.
