St Finnbar's Oratory
I don't know what happened to my blip yesterday. The weather was wild and foul and I didn't go outside but spent most of the day on the computer. Come evening time, no blip and not much mojo so I let it go! It was either that or the cat, and the cat was not playing.
Today we ventured out to Future Forests to purchase some apple trees. They had the most amazing choice and after much advice, we bought three which will comprise our new orchard - two trees already being planted.
We went on to Gougane Barra as we were close. A stunning place - lake surrounded by mountains and in the middle of it all St Finnbar's Oratory. St Finnbar is of course patron saint of Cork and it was here that he founded a monastery and did various holy things like slaying the resident water dragon. The little island is still a place of pilgrimage and the chapel an extremely popular wedding venue. It was seriously cold!! It rained, sleeted, blew a hoolie and the sun even shone briefly. The nearby forests are a good spot for walking too but it was too cold today for much larking about.
Wild and woolly out there now, the fire's lit, the cats are in and we're going nowhere!
