A MIMent In Time

By justmim

During my first visit to London that wasn't a school trip, now 2 1/2 years ago, I was shown around some of the key spots. This view across to St. Paul's was one of them. Having not been on either of my previous two visits, the sunny blue skies presented the perfect opportunity to do so during my final few hours in the city. I am ever so glad that I did :)

Hoping to make the most of my remaining time I dropped my case off at Euston station and wondered from there down to The Strand and to St. Paul's before making my way over the Thames (again again again) to walk along the South Bank, a spot which I felt the pull of most every day. Having heard the 10am bells at St. Paul's I then arrived at Westminster in time to hear Big Ben chime 11am, signalling time to return to Euston station with the walking route happily taking me through Covent Garden and the West End once more. An area which remains my geographical nemesis!

After such a lovely week spent with friends I wasn't sure how I would feel making the return journey. Particularly as those dear friends are ones whom I associate with Edinburgh as much as London. However, it is good to be back (repeat, with conviction), to have had such a lovely holiday and to know that 'home' is not really based on geography alone.
