Man Overboard! (Day 2)
I woke early and rather than disturb anyone else on board, I snuck out for a wander. I forgot to put my glasses on. As I walked along from where we were moored, there was something in the water. I advanced cautiously, early morning, blurred vision, tired brain playing tricks on me. Could it be a car or van? Was there a road nearby that it could have come off? It didn't make sense. I zoomed my camera in and took a photo. It looked like a caravan, surely not?
Back at the boat, contacts in, breakfast had, I mentioned the possible obstruction up ahead. As we passed it, it turned out be a capsized boat, unlike anything I'd seen before.
As we approached a lock, G grabbed a windlass and headed down the side of the boat to get the centre line ready to pull the boat in to moor. As he prepared to jump, the boat moved slightly, he changed his mind but inertia had him *SPLASH* It was one of those moments where if I was not concerned for his safety, I'd have grabbed my camera. I killed the engine, he hauled himself out. No harm done and he even went and operated the lock before getting dry.
When we moored for the evening, G & I took a walk, we found some fox holes very close to where we were moored. At dusk we saw a fox but conditions were not right for photos.
