Great Wall Lake Side

We are very fortunate to be able to take advantages of the free trips out from Keystone to places such as this. This is a section of the Great Wall which runs through a valley which has since been flooded by a dam to create a reservoir. The wall actually disappears into the lake at two points.

The weather today was absolutely stunning and very unseasonal for Beijing in January which is normally smoggy. The clear blue skies and frozen lake made for some amazing views. We walked out onto the lake at one point where you could see frozen bubbles disappearing into the ice below which was at least a foot thick. We walked for about three and a half hours in total including picnic stop but taking into account Keystone student walking pace that doesn't equate to very far!
