a brown beauty...

...landed in my world today

a butterfly... flitting about my head - i thought it was going to fly over the ridge - then it floated gently into a tree... stayed there until i approached - remaining while i took a lot of pictures of it... talking to it the whole time - taking a bit for it to open its wings for me... not that i'm a psychologist to butterflies or any such thing - but i'd like to think this little beauty was a tad shy - perhaps a wee bit insecure at fully opening her wings because the one is broken - shredded somehow due to wear, a fight, the elements...

i told her, once open, it didn't matter - she was still a magnificent brown beauty - wore her scars well... we all have them - battle scars - get them throughout our life and should be proud of them - for they reflect our growth during trials - how we've gained strength and become empowered to face every day... and if it's possible, her wings fluttered a bit appearing to stretch open wider still - i thought she was going to take flight... instead she settled, remaining calm while i finished shooting her - admiring her colors, for i've never seen a butterfly like this before. although if i've done the research correctly - i found that it's called a mourning cloak... needless to say - i was besotted - yes, by a butterfly - a small creature touching my heart... with a broken wing - unafraid in my presence - it made for...

a

happy day.....
