London — the easy way

Had an early start today for a rather special lunch celebration at Trinity House in London for the presentation of awards to the British Yachtsman of the year for 2014 and the most promising young sailor.
The awards are organised by the Yachting Journalists' Association and sponsored for the first time by boats.com
Sailing legend Sir Robin Knox-Johnston who earned a podium position in a solo transatlantic race last November, at the age of 75, was named Yachtsman of the Year, while Dorset windsurfer Emma Wilson earned the Young Sailor title, at the age of 15.
But while heading for the celebration lunch, I decided I would act out my journey across London as a tourist, rather than take the regular commuting trail of using the underground, bus or cab. I embarked on the water bus from London Eye to the Tower, with Trinity House in easy walking distance from the Thames. And the same back again.
I thought it much more relaxed, provided an interesting perspective of London from the river . . . and after all I was going to a maritime lunch, so taking to the water seemed appropriate.

It was also much more comfortable than my near hour and a half crowded train journey home — standing all the way!
