Two out of three ain't bad

Today I headed North to the wilds of North Uist. Over the last week there have been three rare(ish) American birds there and they were what I was looking for. As you will guess from the title of this blip, I did catch up with two of the three.
This first winter Ring-billed Gull was strutting his stuff right next to the road, his Americanness being given away by the bubble gum pink beak. The second was a female Ring-necked Duck which it has to be said is a connoisseur's bird rather than one for the general public. I missed out on a Green-winged Teal. Also after the recently foul weather, the raptors were out in force and I saw a month's worth of Merlins and Peregrines.
A good day helped by a lull in the wind - although as I write it is building up again.
As for the title, when I looked the song up on Wiki, I couldn't believe   Meat Loaf only got to 32 in the charts with it on 19th August 1978. I remembered the song as one of the anthems of my youth. And number one then? Olivia Newton-John with Hopelessly devoted to you. Which one can you remember?!
first record of Ring-billed gull in the UK? Only 5 years earlier in  March 1973. Number one then? Slade with the Cum on feel the noise Not one to remember....
