The Sound of a Thousand Basketballs

The Santa Cruz Warriors basketball team kicked off the D-League's annual Showcase tournament with a delightful parade down the main street of town. You don't usually see "delightful" and "basketball" in the same sentence, but one thousand kids were given free bright blue basketballs to dribble the entire length of the street leading to the arena! It was something marvelous to behold. The kids were thrilled. Traffic was rerouted, and the beloved sea turtle mascot led the parade. 

I did have some trouble deciding whether to post this eminently blippable event, or to go with an artsier image that I liked more but that lacked a backstory. Just another contribution to the discussion of how one picks an image for the day...
