Alstroemeria Still Life

It's ages since I posted a floral still life on Blip but as I got one of my best scores last night in the monthly print competition at Edinburgh Photographic Society with a still life of lilies that I took some time last year, I thought it was about time I had another go. This is a still life of some Alstroemeria, part of a bunch that is currently decorating our mantel shelf in the living room and I've gone for the classic black velvet background as I feel it really gives the reds a lift. I used a variety of apertures but chose to go for the f16 as it gave sharpness from front to back and  I wanted a pin sharp image.
