Rain on the Wires
It rained this morning…. Yes very early. In fact I needed to wear a rain jacket and carry an umbrella. Amazing. Fergus enjoyed the temporary change in the weather even though it was warm and muggy and he needed frequent drinks from the river. Alas the rain was short-lived and hardly dampened down the dust. By the time we got back to the vehicle the rain had stopped and the sun was shining.
As we walked through the vineyard I was fascinated with the raindrops on the wires supporting the vines. Little sparkles of water teasing the entwining tendrils of the young vine…..just lovely.
The temperature soared later in the day reaching well over 30 in our garden here in Blenheim. Daughter M and son-in-law S called in when they came off the ferry from Wellington. They were en route to Kaiteriteri in the Nelson province. Their daughter Emily is already staying in Nelson with her other Grandma. I am to join them tomorrow. Yes…I am cutting loose and forgetting all about moving house for a while. Keith is very happy to stay home with the animals. He is thoroughly enjoying sorting stuff and packing up the household. I am very happy to leave it to him and I am looking forward to a break.
Hannah and Alex will arrive from Marahau, Nelson shortly. They are bringing a car-trailer with them in order to remove the (wreck) Vauxhall Viva Estate car from our carport. Yay…. Hip hurray. They will also collect some of their other property which has been languishing here for some time. Alex is to borrow our Suzuki XL7 4x4 to tow the trailer and its load back to Marahau tomorrow. The 4x4 will be loaded up with camping gear for Kaiteriteri. Hannah and I will follow in convoy in their van which is not quite gutsy enough to tow a loaded car trailer. It should be fun……
