Elevation

It has been snowing non stop all day.

We live at an elevation of about 200m. Here we have had considerable snow fall, but the roads are slushy and passable.

In the town centre, about 100m lower down, it is drizzling. I drove out towards Buckstones, which is very high up - about 425m -and didn't get there. It was horrible.   I turned around at about 300m and drove slowly back home. Elevation is the key. 

I am in such a mess with my Mac operating systems I am considering a return to - gulp - Windows.......
