The koi are very hungry

I went to the Botanic Garden with my daughter, son, grandbaby and the daughter's MIL for lunch. The koi in the Japanese Garden Pond, more of a lake by New Mexico standards, were hungry and were churning up the water, splashing, clambering over each other and making the most appalling slurping sounds. In other words, behaving like koi. My son fed them his hamburger bun and lettuce and they got really excited. There are several that have long fins, one totally black one, and a couple that I swear must be 3 feet long.
