Winter Playground
A beautiful, bright but very cold Winter's day.
Very early this morning I preached, via Skype, to a congregation in Jinja, Uganda. This was my first time in this congregation - it was an English speaking Church, so I didn't need a translator. Well, not unless some thought it needed translation from Scottish into English! However, I think it was ok. I had taught two of the Pastors when I had been in Jinja Seminary 10 years ago.
A surprise after I had preached - one of the Pastors brought forward a lovely couple who had brought their baby to be Dedicated, and asked me to perform the ceremony. I didn't quite catch the baby's name at first and didn't know whether it was a boy or a girl, but after a minute or so I sussed that the baby was dressed all in pink - that helped!
Later, in my own church, the Pastor preached on similar themes as I had done although neither of us knew what the other was going to preach about.
Afterwards, we visited Camperdown Park, where I thought there would still be plenty of snow around. Although there is no one in view on my blip, there were a number of families out with sledges. Truly, a Winter Playground.
In other news, I now have a date when I will receive a new pacemaker - Wednesday 28th January, in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. I am quietly hoping that this one will work fully!
