Happy Birthday Sweet 16

Today is my teenage daughters 16th birthday. desperate for snow on her 16th birthday she got her wish.

16 years ago it poured down all day and night but the sun shone at 10.53pm when my beautiful baby girl came into the world.

16 years has flown by and every year we celebrate with her granda because its his birthday too. We've been like the vicar of dibley today with two dinners and two cakes! two seperate parties but both good company.


Someone was missing today as she always is at these landmark events but it hasn't spoilt the celebrations they've just been different than if she had been with us. We'd have remembered 16 years ago that mam was babysitting my nephew whilst everyone else was 'wetting the baby's head' in the pub.

This evening we had a trip to the Italian with a group of girls all are or soon to be 16. A lovely group of girls each and everyone. We sat on a table away from them so we were on hand if needed.

Again at times like this people make the effort, dress up, smile and put on a brave face for the special persons day, hiding an illness that any one who doesn't know them can't see. It's an effort but its also an achievment and we were pleased to see you all and hope everyone had a good time.

There was a misunderstanding with a baseball bat but all in all the day went well. An early lesson this morning in tesco! don't buy cd's by the self serve! it doesn't take the security tag off and they are terrible to remove at home. Our toolbox has never had so many tools out for one job. it took a while but we got there in the end and made it in time to wrap up for the birthday lunch.
