Looks Good To Me

Soggy Seattle

We rode the BoltBus to Seattle today to attend the wedding of Cynthia's best friend A. On the way down, the weather was very unsettled -- alternating sunshine and rain several times.

I was happy to get off the bus during a dry spell, but a few minutes later, as we walked toward the bus that would take us to our hotel, it started raining with an intensity I hadn't seen since the the monsoon season in India. We dashed to the bus stop shelter and realized that we were in the wrong location. The bus stop where we should have been waiting was only a short walk away -- but there was no shelter there. It might as well have been a mile away.

I pulled out my phone, fired up the Lyft app, and found a driver only a couple of minutes away. When he arrived the visibility was so bad that we couldn't find each other, and when he phoned me it was hard to hear each other because of the noise of the rain pounding on the roof of the shelter. We were very relieved to get to our hotel just slightly moistened, but I must have absorbed more water than I realized. How else to explain the drops in the corners of my eyes during the wedding?

We're staying in the Edgewater hotel on the Seattle waterfront, whose claim to fame is hosting the Beattles back in the 60's. There's an iconic photo of the Fab Four fishing from the window of their hotel room. The place is looking a liitle worn around the edges, but very acceptable, and the food is outstanding.

It was the most enjoyable wedding we've been to since our own!
