this stone is a good example of a glacial erratic
its volcanic composition does not match the surrounding bedrock of this area
it was carried by glacial ice from  many miles further north then dumped here
it is also an example of a "rocking stone"  used by druids to determine the innocence or guilt of 'offenders' who were sat on it and judged according to the direction the stone rocked
it rocks no more so 'offenders' now queue up at Paisley Sheriff Court !
