There's little point now . . . .

. .  . . .in the customary Scottish greeting at the New Year---'Lang may yer lum reek'   i.e. "Long may your chimney smoke" - meaning 'May you live long and keep well'.
As you know we live in an increasingly Green world an' that's fine but these stacks must feel a trifle redundant. On a fine day however they make an organised statement, a regimented and  bonnie picture.
