A sad end
Having been raised this Summer quite probably in the north of Greenland, this Glaucous Gull could well have arrived in the Hebrides very recently as a consequence of all the wind. Possibly its first contact, literally, with mankind was, sadly, meeting a vehicle on the North Ford causeway.
Not particularly rare, but certainly not common, seeing one of these gulls always makes my day, although perhaps not this one.
A rather more successful flyer was Tricia who arrived back today after visiting family. That said, her plane was an hour late as it has to be de-iced before it could take off from Glasgow. Still plenty of snow and ice about up here.
