For decades, multiple past owners of the house have put up with a glass lampshade that hung 4 inches lower than the top of the linen cupboard door that opens beside it.

I'd found myself with a surplus flush fitting and E was very happy with the idea of me changing replacing the dangly one with it (after I'd put down the floorboards from Saturday's turdhunt).
