Crossing Forest Creek on the road to Mesopotamia

Today I dropped some English walkers up to the Te Aroha trail at Mesopotamia at the Rangitata headwaters.

At the turnaround point we met with a group of off-roaders who had raced ahead of the oncoming weather, visible in the background of this shot, after hunkering down for a rough night previously.

On the way back home, I stopped after crossing Forest Creek to get this shot of the vast openness of this part of the country (a location for the Lord of the Rings movies) as well as the approaching Nor'West squall.
