IBEW

It was so hard to choose my blip today because it was a busy day and I remembered to take lots of snaps. This, though, is probably my favorite. We were invited to take a tour through the new union hall and apprenticeship center of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers where our son-in-law Matt is an instructor. We got to see all the various classrooms and, because it is a sustainable building, we even went up to the roof to examine the solar panels and wind turbine that powers everything. I got a lesson in fiber optics and we got to see how a Journeyman becomes qualified as an instrumentation specialist. Very interesting.

This is the Local's charter, dated 1922. It is displayed in a place of honor among other photos of local and historical importance.

After that the slave driver, Jessica, took us back to the rental house where we laid flooring for the rest of the day.
