Big bam boo

Definitely not a good picture today, I'm afraid. I ran out of time and the light was bad. A bad photographer always blames the light if he hasn't already blamed his camera or the lack of time!

Anyway, this bamboo is fairly unusual, firstly in that it comes from Chile and Argentina, whereas most common bamboos are east Asian. Secondly the stems, unlike most other bamboos, are solid, and were once used by the locals as spears as they are heavy and straight.

I shall try to do better tomorrow!
