Up the Porter, Down the Limb
A much better day, today - still very cold, but a bit brighter. As snow is forecast for tonight and tomorrow, we thought we should make the most of it so we did a walk which we have done a number of times before. it is half of a walk known as Sheffield Round Walk (not sure why, as it is linear, not round) one of it's virtues is that it passes 2 cafes and a pub. Another is that the pub, which serves food is about 2 thirds of the way round, and is at the top of the lovely Porter Brook, whilst the remaining third of the walk is downhill, along the Limb Brook. There was still plenty of snow and ice at the top of the walk, but very little sign of it on the lower parts.
We saw lots of birds, and although it was a walk rather than a photography outing, I did take my long lens, and got it out at one hotspot where we saw Grey Wagtail, Dipper, Treecreeper and this little Wren all within a few yards. All of them were busy feeding and moving quite quickly, so not easy to capture. 17 species of bird spotted overall.
