Leaps in Training
Tonight Nanook (AKA 'my dog', AKA 'Nookers', AKA 'The Woozie') and I had search and rescue training. One of the things we worked on was problem solving for the dogs.
Our dogs are trained in such a way that we require them to have a certain amount of independence from their handler. We send them into various situations that require them to think on their own, without our direction, to get through areas and situations to do their jobs. So, tonight we set up an exercise where Nanook was sent into a building and then had to find her way through a fence to get to the victim on the other side. The only way through the fence was a small opening off the ground which she had to jump through. Needless to say she did well, so tonights picture is one I managed to snap of her jumping through that opening after she had located the victim and I recalled her.
