Rest in Peace

Things were not good with my gran this morning.  She'd been moved to a side ward, her breathing was failing.  Around 10:30am my Gran (FredaH) lost her fight with life.  I use the term very accurately, the last few years have been a fight for her but she has deteriorated significantly over the last year.  We have expected her death several times, but other times she has bounced back.  Now she is no longer suffering, she is at peace and she passed away quietly with my mum by her side.

I packed a bag and headed down to support my parents through planning the funeral.

My gran always wore a large gold cross.  At times when she has been very ill, I have worn my own small Celtic cross.  I knew this would be my photo for today.  There will be a lot of time in the coming weeks to bring things into focus and put them in perspective.  As such, I found this shot, with only parts in sharp detail, very fitting.
