A mixed bag

Today started out sunny and so after breakfast we headed to the beach with friends. We noticed the red flags were up because the sea was rough but there was a nice breeze and we could alway take a dip in the pool and come back to the beach if the sun got to be too much.
Well I will never again take those red flags for granted. We were sitting comfortably under our umbrellas and I had my camera out taking some photos. A middle aged man went into the ocean up to his knees. He got pulled down, sucked out and when came up briefly he yelled for help. A guy with a surfboard went out to help him and then he also needed help.

Another surfer went in pulled the other two onto the beach. A police officer tried CPR on the middle aged man but he did not respond. Just like that, he was gone. It was like I was watching a tv show. I couldn't quit believe it.
Soon after this happened a big cloud came overhead and it poured. We all huddled under the umbrella but we were getting wet and cold.
We decided to go up by the bar which was covered and wait it out. Sure enough the sun came back out and the day was salvaged. Eventually we came back to our room for a nap. Being on vacation can be exhausting.
