Common Froghopper
.. or Cercopis Vulnerata.
There's been a few of these in the garden the past few days, and I have been hoping to get the macro lens out and get a shot of one. This one landed on the patio, and was wandering around the grooves in the slabs, which gave it a rather pleasing depth of field.
You may not have seen one of these insects before, but I bet you have seen evidence of them. These are the insects who lay their eggs on the stalks of plants and then protect them in a frothy cocoon, otherwise known as "cuckoo spit".
It's been a very quiet day. I have definitely been suffering from the night before. We ended up having 35 people here spread over the day, and it was a wonderful time. We finally got to bed at about half past one. This morning was mainly operation tidy up, and there's a fair few recycling bags out front full of wine and beer bottles. Back to normality tomorrow then!
