Andy through a spy hole in the beach hut
This morning we walked along the beach to the village again … it only took about 25 mins … always best to try these things in the light of day first. We had a wander round, made some enquiries about onwards travel and bought some fruit and some local rum. We bought the most expensive one they had at 1600 Kyat (just over a quid). We thought we’d spend the evening on the terrace of the beach hut listening to music and having a drink.
Both our legs are sore today so we decide to give the running a miss. Fred remembers her stress fracture when she overdid it before. Andy does some Capoeira on the beach as the sun is going down and Fred spies on him through a tiny little hole in the wooden shutter of the window of beach hut and takes a few shots.
She then spends about two hours trying to update Blipfoto and manages four entries … its going to be hard work in Myanmar as the internet is intermittent and very slow.
Dinner across the road again and some local men want their picture taken with us (well mainly with Andy really) so we oblige. Not sure why. In other countries Fred has been asked by young lads, probably because of the tattoos, but never by middle aged men. Mind you they do have a bottle of whiskey on the table which seems to be the thing to do here. Lots of groups of men in bars have a bottle of spirits on the table and drink this along with beers usually.
So we decide to join them, buy a bottle of Sprite as a mixer and head back to the cabin to sample our local rum. Its not bad and we have a nice evening being stupid by the beach hut.
