Gently down the stream

..that's what the nearest of the ad boards says.  Indeed and why not, but I do wish the cathedral authorities would consider us poor blippers when they line the avenue with posters and litter bins.  It doesn't make our job any easier!

Anyway, what I really want to do is thank you all for being so kind to my blip of yesterday.  I felt a little overwhelmed - what a lovely lot you are!

Today was brilliant sun (though no frost) and for me a trip into town so I decided to try for something completely different from yesterday.  The old lime avenue that lead to the west door of Winchester Cathedral was felled in the late '80s/early '90s and I never thought I'd see a proper avenue here again, but the new limes have grown brilliantly if not yet to full height.  They're pretty gorgeous in the sunshine and I have to say everyone marching up and down (including the cleric in long robes on a tricycle) looked pretty light-hearted.  Amazing what a bit of sun will do.

I notice Boris Johnson's book on Churchill is selling half price in Waterstones - is that a good way to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of WC's funeral?  :))

A happy weekend to you xx
