Annie's Epic Adventure
I (Annie) have had a slightly surprising week. The original plan had been challenging enough: Drive 100 miles to work in Bristol on Monday, then drive up to Halifax in the evening on Monday (about 160 miles) for work in Halifax and Leeds on Tuesday -> Thursday.
What actually happened was I made it Bristol -> Halifax, worked there on Tuesday, then an IT issue needed me in Edinburgh. I made plans to get the train there early on Wednesday, then heavy snow fell in Halifax. I drove gently instead into our Leeds office with my colleague, worked there for the day watching the snow, then took the train up in the evening to Edinburgh. Instead of returning home on Thursday, I've been up there helping to resolve the issue until today. We're still fixing it, but today I made my escape and have been on the end of a phone. It's a testament to my habit of overpacking "just in case" that even today I was still able to wear fresh-on clean clothes.
Setting off from a sunny Edinburgh at 11am, I took the train to Leeds to see if the car was still there - thankfully it was. At least going today meant I had a quieter train and station to travel in. I then did the 3 hour trip home by car from Leeds, arriving back at 7pm.
Nice to be home. Now - grab some food, feet up, remind the cat and Chris who I am. :)
