Cup or Saucer?

This stunning fungus is the Scarlet Elf Cup, although this fruiting body has opened widely and looks more like a saucer. Nice to have something to get my macro lens out for in the depths of Winter, and to see something so colourful in nature when much of the natural world is dressed in sombre colours.
I did my RSPB birdwatch this morning. Really not much about, but citizen science is not about seeing a Lammergeier on your peanut feeder. I tell myself.
