Bridge with Ferry

Today was our last day in Holland--a Monday with all museums and other attractions closed--except the zoo.  It's apparently excellent, but the weather was not at all (chilly with wind and bits of rain), so we spent the morning in our hotel room watching the Australian Open tennis (which we don't get on our TV in Paris).

Then a very good Greek lunch, and some touring with trams (we had a senior day pass for €3.55), which took us late in the afternoon to the Nieuwe Maas River; we had this dramatic view of the ultra-modern Erasmus Bridge and a ferry ready to depart for Dordrecht, about 20 miles up the river (the window reads "waterbus").  It seemed to be carrying perhaps as many cyclists as pedestrians. This was a bit poignant, for we had hoped to visit the Grote Kerk (Great Church) in Dordrecht, where one of my Van de Graaff ancestors is reportedly buried in the floor, but it turned out to be closed in winter.

At 7 pm we boarded the Thalys train back to Paris--a smooth 2 hour and 40 minute ride.   This image is backblipped the next day.
