The Horseshoe pool
Following on from yesterday's blip I thought I'd capture another of the bathing pools. This is the horseshoe pool. As it faces east I was hoping to include a nice sunrise, but no such luck, it's another overcast day.
In the background of my picture is Castle Cornet. This was built to defend St Peter Port harbour. It originates to the 13th Century although it has undergone many modifications over the centuries. It was used as a prison and was also the residence for the island governors. During the civil war it remained in Royalist hands even though the island was generally Parliamentarian. It underwent a nine year siege, althought it received supplies by sea.
