Honeysuckle derelict
At the end of Honeysuckle Drive where it meets Hannell street is a collection of derelict buildings. The parcel of land they are situated on has been set aside for development and is right next to the derelict Wickham Station. On boxing day trains stopped running into Newcastle and finish at Hamilton. They (subject to the legal proceedings brought by Save Our Rail) intend to build a light rail interchange which will be fabulous to network the rail, city, beaches and other parts. I can see so much promise but it may not go ahead if the legal challenge is successful so that certain Dungog people can catch the train to Newcastle. It is a hot bed of debate and on my straw polling, the silent majority of people are all for it.
Anyway, that's another story and back to these buildings. I am not sure what they were used for but one was probably just a residence. The only occupant now pigeons. I don't recall them ever being in use but they probably were and I just don't remember. This is the back view where the graffiti artists have been. I think artists is a loose term as what is there is not particularly artistic in my view. I often think the figure on the bottom right is Jesus particularly when I am driving by on my way to work but perhaps on reflection it is Daniel Johns from Silverchair.
PS no unnecessary risks were taken to get this image other than holding the small handbag camera through the wire fencing.
