Green
There had only been a light dusting of snow in Leith anyway and it had soon disappeared - although it was still frigging cold. Spent the day working at the interface, mostly fire-fighting.
When I went out to the local shop my attention was taken by the vivid green patches on the pavements - the locations suggest that the stuff is probably nourished somewhat by dog pee, but it's amazingly green (having just emerged from under a bit of ice and snow). It's surely related to the other stuff that was on that oak tree trunk I noticed the other day. Is it lichen or a moss or....what? Since following bignonsequitur's journal I now suspect that it's almost certainly a bryophyte of some kind. Get me!
