Life with Alice

Finally Sunny!

We haven't had a sunny day for a very, very long time and mum says she will soon be in Despair if the sun doesn't come out. Or if it was Desperation. Anyway. This morning, knowing it would be gone by noon, we headed out in a cheerful mood for as long a walk as mum thinks is reasonable for me in snow, ice and subzero temperatures. Pretty long.

It was great! I walked on lead on the gravel road part, and behaved so well that a gentleman we met turned around and gave me a compliment for it! Mum just looked at me as if she thought he meant another dog or something, but it was Me! Once we got to the path, I got to run on the frozen snow to find fresh rabbit poo and play fetch with a glove. We even met a Springer spaniel who was nine but behaved like a puppy, slightly intimidating because she was so big. We said hello on lead, which I thought was just as well.

It has recently come to my attention that not all dogs have face shaves. I wonder why poodles do. Maybe if I had whiskers, they would turn out to be real useful?
