Nicholson

Beck and I were in Leek today for a funeral and afterwards we dropped by the Nicholson Institute, home of the Library and an Art Gallery and Museum. I've not been in for years and it's a shame that the old reading room is no more, even though I knew it had been refurbished. It's still a fine example of Victorian philanthropic architecture and the ceiling in the Art Gallery (which was actually closed but the nice lady attendant let us go in for a look anyway) is particularly grand.
