Persistent rain all morning, so I used the time to do my letters. And a crossword or two. Pottering until late this afternoon I went for a run. In Hakanoa Reserve I saw a number of Piwakawaka (NZ Fantails). My first attempts to get a photo were not too bad, and then they hid for more than five minutes before emerging again. I totally messed up the focus as one displayed its fan very well.

So when I got back from my run, I crossed the road to outside the NZ Defence Force Northern HQ where this feral pigeon was finding seeds in the grass.
