Hama Rikyu Gardens
On my first day in Tokyo, I got up at 6 am to go to the famous Tsukiji Fish Market. It is quite interesting seeing the morning's catch which comes here before being sold on in a huge market area. It was photographer's paradise whilst a little gruesome with lots of colourful fish gaping and still trying to breathe whilst lying on slabs. I thought the still living but already marinated crabs were particularly cruel.
After that I went to Hama Rikyu Gardens which I think was my favourite park in all of Tokyo. The pine trees were really nice and it felt very lush and green after the dryness of the Beijing winter. I liked this photo because it sums up Tokyo with the towering buildings overlooking the beautiful gardens.
I spent the rest of the day rushing from district to district in Tokyo gradually convincing myself that I think it is now one of my favourite cities in the world.
