Daisho-in

On Tuesday I travelled to Hiroshima. I arrived at 11 am and was told that my room wouldn't be ready until 2 so I dumped my bags and got straight back on a local train and then a ferry to the island of Miyajima. This is the site of one of the most famous photographs in Japan, the floating torii or floating gate that is out in the bay and appears to be floating in the water. I took plenty of photos of that but I then went to this temple where I saw hundreds of these little statues in woolly hats along the sides of the path. They made me smile so I thought this photo made a better blip than something everyone will have seen before!
