Restaurant Menu

This is a window of a restaurant in Kyoto. A lot of them have plastic versions of their dishes made and displayed outside in big windows like this. Each meal is numbered so you then go in and type the number into a machine by the door and pay and it gives you a receipt. You then sit at a table and give your receipt to the waitress and she brings you your order. It is quite useful when you don't speak Japanese because you know roughly what your food will look like when it comes. It is also very efficient just like a lot of things in Japan. It might sound a little unfriendly with minimal human contact but I think Japan is perhaps the friendliest place that I have been so I am sure it is just for efficiency purposes!
