Painting With Light

I went over to Pennsylvania for another workshop today. This one was "painting with light".

Basic recipe...

- Take 1 model
- Focus on model then switch lens to manual focus
- Switch out the lights
- Expose in bulb mode for 10-20 seconds
- Swing various sets of lights around behind model
- Pop the flash near the end to light the model
- Finish exposure

In this shot the model is leaning in the foreground and there is a guy dressed all in black with a ski mask on swinging a set of christmas tree lights in a circle behind her. Obviously care must be taken not to whack the model!

There are endless variations in what you can do... either swinging lights or drawing with a laser pointer etc...

Probably not the most entertaining of shoots for the model... basically standing the dark and still as you can, hope you arent looking too scared when flash comes and hope the whoosing of the swinging lights behind you doesnt result in a whack on the head...
