Spike
It's been a busy day of socialising.
Our first engagement was morning coffee with K, J, B, B and L at the Tide café in Portobello. Then we all walked around the corner to L's new place. He just took ownership of the house on Friday so he was keen to show us around. It's a really lovely wee house, and very well situated for all that is on offer in Porty, so we all gave our seal of approval.
Afterwards five of us went for lunch at the Esplanade Bar (Epsy), where we bumped into more friends, including the Edinburgh Belles on Bikes group. At the next table to us was someone I thought I knew, perhaps as a former student or friend of a friend. I soon realised that she was once a candidate on the Apprentice. However, it should be noted that technically I wasn't wrong in my initial assessments: she is a graduate of my university, and at least one of my friends does know her socially.
Mr hazelh and I then caught a bus back up to town. After some light shopping and a trip to the library to collect some books (including the next title for our book group) we popped home again to change for our next social engagement: a (late) Burns supper at B and R's flat. There we admired B and R's newly decorated bedroom (modelled here by their cat Spike), feasted on smoked salmon, homemade oatcakes, haggis, neeps, tatties and black bun, and ended the night playing a very silly game called Atmosfear. We fell into bed just after 1:00am, completely exhausted.
Exercise today: walk to Portobello (1 hour) and wandering around town (1 hour).
