Lantern and Finial
Back in Glasgow for a concert tonight - 'Transatlantic Sessions', the last of the Celtic Connections for this year. A beautiful drive up on a sunny day, with snow on the hills. Arriving early, we went to the 'Hunterian Gallery' in the University, and particularly to the Mackintosh House which is in the gallery. The house that Charles Rennie Mackintosh and his wife Margaret lived in in Glasgow from 1900 to 1914 has been reassembled in the gallery with all the fixtures, fittings and furniture from the original house. Very impressive. We were given a guided tour, but not allowed to take photographs (and watched to make sure we didn't!). So here is a bit of Mackintosh in the Sculpture Garden outside the gallery and in middle of the University buildings. He designed it for a department store that was demolished in 1973.
