So Maggie runs . . .
. . . the witches follow,
Wi' mony an eldritch skriech and hollo.
Ah, Tam! Ah, Tam! thou'll get thy fairin'!
In hell they'll roast thee like a herrin'!
It was such a lovely day today that we meandered our way back south from Glasgow, following the West coast so we could walk by the sea around Largs, Ardrossan and Ayr. Then we went to visit the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum at Alloway.
We were at Burns Cottage a few years ago, but then the museum was being rebuilt. So we were interested to see what it was like. It is excellent – a super museum and a great café. We didn’t spend that long in the museum, as we were keen to revisit the cottage and the bridge. (And we were dodging school groups.) The walk to the cottage from the museum is now a Poet’s Path and has a set of these fine weathervane scenes from Tam o’Shanter. I liked this one against the lovely blue sky, although it really should have been a stormy sky - The doubling storm roars thro' the woods.
