watery eyes

Aberlady Parish Church, in East Lothian about 18 miles east of Edinburgh. A Church of Scotland place.

The tower is part of the church built on the site in the 15th century. It was extended and refurbished in 1773, and lasted for another century after that. The current version opened for worship in 1887.

Wonderful views from the churchyard over the Firth of Forth to Fife, and across Kilspindie Golf Club. Colder than a penguin’s chuff today, with an air temperature of 3° and full exposure to an eye watering north wind coming in off the sea.

My Dad’s ashes have been buried in the churchyard for the last 5 years.

Aberlady was a 2nd home (my parents' home) for 28 years. Going back always throws up some very mixed memories.
