To Ponder

This is my great great grandfather, Amos Raistrick. He lived in Idle near Bradford, Yorkshire and was an industrialist.  That immediately leads one on to the old joke about the sign above the entrance to the Idle Working Mens Club....
You will see that the details given with the picture indicate that the artist is unknown. I find that just so frustrating.  I have to try an find out who the artist is.

Normally you would say, well just look for the artist's signature or monogram on the picture.  In this case the picture has, at some time in its history, been altered to an oval shape and the signature has been lost. Additionally as this is a portrait one cannot readily identify the artist by his/her style.

I will be going to look at the picture at the gallery in the course of the next few weeks but in the meantime any suggestions would be gratefully received....
