Ever get the feeling you're being ignored? Gill has started reading the book that disturbed me so much last week. I'm reading Wolf Hall and just settling down to watch what, for both of us is our TV highlight of the week, not much else worth watching.

In other news I repaired a ballcock in the hot water tank today. I'd noticed that the overflow had been spilling water for a while so thought it was time to do something - I called the plumber. But the plumber was out. Hobson's choice, then. The mechanism was crudded up with limescale - it's bad in these parts. Anyway for less than a fiver I got a whole new valve from the local plumbing supplier and I did the job. I did it. Me. Gill almost fainted when I told her.
