Catching snowflakes
As a chemistry student I know plenty about how and why water molecules form hexagonal crystalline structures - more info here. What I only learned recently was that these gorgeous structures can be viewed by the human eye and not just under a microscope. This revelation was when my friend and fellow blipper, melamny, posted a stunning macroscopic snowflake photo.
The snow falling on the way home from placement tonight was so fine that individual flakes landed on my coat and I was able to snap a few before they melted away. Beautiful.
